TACUBA
Five centuries of history await us on one of the roads that linked the ancient Aztec capital with the mainland and through which the Spaniards fled in their defeat on the so-called ‘Noche Triste’. We follow in the footsteps of that journey, beginning at the ceremonial center of the Templo Mayor. Later we visit emblematic buildings from the 17th century to the 20th century, full of events that have marked the life of the country: like the house in which the lyrics of the National Anthem were written; the Church that was part of the convent of Santa Clara; the old hospital of the Bethlehemites; the Tolsá group made up of the Mining Palace and the equestrian statue known as “El Caballito”; as well as Porfirian architectural jewels such as the old Post Office Palace, the Communications Palace (now the National Museum of Art) and the Palace of Fine Arts, without forgetting the famous Café Tacuba.
